The resurrection of the German World War II tank Pz. IV

The Panzerkampfwagen IV was a German medium tank developed in Germany from 1933 as a medium tank intended for infantry support. The first prototypes were produced at the turn of 1935/1936. The tank was used throughout World War II on all battlefields (Africa, Europe, Russia).

Its main weapon was a short 75mm gun (7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24), which, however, did not prove to be ideal for fighting enemy armour, so at the beginning of 1942 the tank was armed with a long 75mm gun (7.5 cm KwK 40 L/43 for the F2 and G versions, 7.5 cm KwK 40 L/48 for the H and J versions).

In total , about 9,000 of these tanks were produced by the end of World War II , of which just over 7,850 were long-gunned . The tanks continued to be used after World War II, with Syria deploying them during the Six-Day War in 1967.

See how the skilled guys from Poznań, Poland decided to completely restore one such “four”. Hats off. This is a tank that belonged to the 10th SS Panzer Division “Frundsberg” , which fought in northwestern Poland in January 1945. The completely destroyed tank was rediscovered years later in 2011 in a filled-in bomb hole.

The same restorers have already resurrected, for example, the German World War II tank destroyer Sturmgeschütz IV , the German half-track, SdKfz 6  , or the Polish tank TKS .
