Tractor-trailer collision on I-90 westbound in Palmer starts fire

Several fire crews were called to I-90 westbound in Palmer for a tractor-trailer collision resulting in a vehicle fire.

The Palmer Fire Department shared on social media that at 3:28 p.m., crews were called to I-90 westbound at mile marker 64.4 for a tractor-trailer motor vehicle accident. When firefighters arrived, they found two tractor-trailers that had collided and caused a fire.

Crews quickly put out the fire and began overhaul and cleanup in the area. Mutual aid was provided by the Bondsville, Brimfield, Warren, Ware, and Sturbridge Fire Departments for water supply and manpower. No injuries were reported.

As a result, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) shut down I-90 westbound between Route 67 and Route 32 for several hours. Westbound traffic was diverted off the turnpike at Exit 64. The roads have since reopened.
