Tora! practices for the upcoming airshows put on by the Commemorative Air Force across the nation was involved in an accident at Conroe in March, 2019. Just after 1:30 pm the aircraft which was landing experienced a landing gear collapse. That forced the aircraft to spin causing damage to the wing, and propeller. Due to the propeller hitting the ground the engine must also be overhauled. This is an original aircraft and was not a replica. The P-40 was flown by Air Forces of 28 different nations Only a handful still exist which are flying of the over 13,000 built. The last one built was in 1943. The pilot was not injured in today’s incident. Conroe Fire and AirPort Crash Rescue responded to the scene. There was a small fuel leak caused by the crash. Estimates of $150,000 to get the aircraft back in the air.
